WE'RE BACK ... WISH I WAS STILL ON PRAC!

HMMM I REALLY WISH I HAD STAYED ON PRAC! IT WAS INDEED GETTING BETTER AND HAD TO BE CUT SHORT TO RETURN HERE OH WELL NEXT YEAR AWAITS ME! THIS CLASS WAS A BIT DIFFERENT. WE HAD OUT PRESENTATIONS DONE. IT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND I OVER WORKED MYSELF IN HELPING MY GROUP GETTING IT DONE AND KEEPING UP WITH PRAC AND OTHER COURSES WAS A TASK. I BELIEVE OUR DOWNFALL AS A GROUP AS TIME MANAGEMENT IN GETTING THE PRESENTATION DONE SO ON THAT NOTE WE SHOULD BE MIND-FULL OF THIS WHEN TEACHING IN THE FUTURE.

FINAL PRAC!

MY LAST WEEK OF PRACTICUM WAS OK I GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO FINISH MY UNIT BECAUSE I TAUGHT TIME WAS RUNNING OUT ON ME. NEVERTHELESS, I WAS A GOOD PRACTICUM I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING REALLY THAT CHANGED FROM THE WEEKS BEFORE BUT THE STUDENTS WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT I WAS LEAVING BUT HAPPY THAT I WOULD BE BACK NEXT YEAR. IT WAS TRULY A LEARNING EXPERIENCE AND I GAINED A LOT FROM IT. VERY MEMORABLE AND AND IT HAS LEFT AN IMPACT ON ME. HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO BUILD AN AWESOME RELATIONSHIP WITH MY STUDENTS.

SECOND WEEK OF PRAC 4001

THIS WEEK WAS MUCH BETTER AS I GOT TO MEET BOTH CLASSES AND INTERACT WITH THEM. I FINALLY GOT THE CHANCE TO MEET ALL THE FORM 3S AND IT WASN'T SO GOOD AS LAST WEEK   AS THE MORE HASTY ONES WERE IN MY HANDS THIS TIME. I HAPPEN TO MANAGE THEM AND STARTED TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM AS I GOT TO FIND OUT THING ABOUT THEMSELVES AND WHAT THEY LIKE AND DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT SOCIAL STUDIES AND WHAT THEY EXPECTED OF ME FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF CLASSES AND WEEKS. I REALIZED THAT I CAN HANDLE THE BOYS MUCH BETTER THAN THE GIRLS FOR SOME REASON. THE GIRLS WERE MORE AGGRESSIVE AND HAD MORE ATTITUDE THAN THE BOYS. THE GIRLS CRITICIZED ME FOR MY DRESS CODE AND THEY WAY I CARRY ABOUT MYSELF WITH THEM IN THE CLASSROOM MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY LISTENED TO MY LESSON AND TOOK PART IN IT BY ASKING QUESTIONS AND READING DURING THE CLASS. THEY WORKED WELL IN GROUPS AND SOME OF THEM ARE SERIOUS ABOUT LEARNING WHILST SOME CLAIM TO BE PLAYING IN THE CLASSROOM AND MAKING UP FOR IT AT HOME. I GOT A...

FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICUM

OH LORD THE FIRST WEEK OF PRAC4001 OOHHHH I WASN'T READYYYYYY!!!!!!  I WAS PLACED IN DEBE SECONDARY SCHOOL I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AS IT WAS MY FIRST TIME IN A MIXED SCHOOL.  I HAD TWO CLASSES TO MANAGE, FORM 3 AND  FORM 4. MY FIRST WAS WITH THE FORM 3S. NOT MANY OF THEM ATTENDED SCHOOL THAT DAY BECAUSE IT WAS THE SCHOOL'S DIWALI PROGRAM THAT DAY. MOST OF THE MORNING CLASSES WERE MISSED BECAUSE OF THE PROGRAM. UNFORTUNATELY, MY CLASS WAS IN THE AFTERNOON SO I HAD TO GO TO MY CLASS TO TEACH MY FIRST LESSON ON GLOBALIZATION. THE STUDENTS WERE NOT WELL BEHAVED BUT THEY HAD A LOT OF ENERGY AND THEY WERE INTELLIGENT, THIS I COULD TELL FROM THE FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THEM AND THEY NEEDED MORE ATTENTION AND MORE HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES TO KEEP THEM ACTIVE. I TAUGHT FOR A DOUBLE PERIOD AND IT WAS OK FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH THE CLASS. THEY WERE ENGAGED IN MY LESSONS AND PARTICIPATED AND ASKED VARIOUS QUESTIONS. I HAD THEM THE NEXT DAY AND IT WAS OK AS NOT MUCH OF THEM T...

MISS ALI WAS FANTASTIC

THAT DAY IN CLASS MISS ALI CAME AND GAVE US A SESSION ON THE SYNOPTIC CHARTS. HER EXPLANATIONS WERE PERFECT AND VERY EASY TO COMPREHEND. I VIEWED HER AS A LECTURER AT UTT AND I WOULD BE HONORED TO WORK WITH HER SOMEDAY AGAIN IN LIFE. I HAD SOME EXPERIENCE BEFORE WITH THE SYNOPTIC CHART BUT NOT AS IN DEPT AS WE WENT INTO IT. I ALSO GAIN NEW KNOWLEDGE FROM THIS SESSION BY LEARNING ABOUT HOW A TROUGH AND A RIDGE WAS FORMED. ALSO ACTUALLY MAKING A PREDICTION OF THE TROPICAL WAVE THAT WAS ABOUT TO PASS NEAR TRINIDAD. AS WELL AS THE HIGH LEVELS AND LOW LEVELS OF PRESSURE AND WIND SPEED. IT WAS INDEED AN ENJOYABLE SESSION AND MADE ME FEEL TO SWITCH CAREERS. BUT NEVER THE LESS, TEACHING IS ALSO AWESOME AS WELL.

WINDS OOOIIIEEEE

Four class and we learning about the different types of winds. firstly we did a word and meaning sheet which i did not like i was not interested in as soon as i get to class. think this is an activity for before class ends but i understand the strategy. Honestly i knew half of the meanings on the sheet the other was sought of hard to remember and took a while to come back to me so it does encourage critical thinking. It is not because i am not readingbut sometimes the simple things we tend to forget at times so such is life. we spoke about cyclones( low pressure covering the air) and anticyclones (high pressure diverging air). we were introduced to the sepcial wind systems which included. land and sea breeze, jet streams, deserts (harmattan), mountains ( anabatic and katabatic) and seasonal reveals (monsoon). some of these wind systems were new to me whilst some i already knew about and i could explain.  We looked at land breeze and sea breeze which brought back a memory for me a...

the third week ... snow! wow! ooohhhh so interested

Today we learnt about whether or not snow can fall on the equator. My group, the A Team said yes whilst the other groups said no. of course we knew that with climate change the rotation of the sun anything can happen. Also we remembered that precipation does not only occur during the day but it occurs at night as well. Also the tilt of the earth matters here as well. This was my "ah ha" moment as I i really forget about this important point as I just focused on the rotation, climate changing and the precipation not occuring during the day only. In addition to this, we were given a sheet of paper with pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and we were asked how do we take the the pieces in account for how we work together as a group. So what my group came up with was that some of the pieces will not fit but we would have to work around with the other pieces until it has fit, meaning that we will encounter challenges and we will have to work around it and get the job done at the end of the...
