WINDS OOOIIIEEEE
Four class and we learning about the different types of winds.
firstly we did a word and meaning sheet which i did not like i was not interested in as soon as i get to class. think this is an activity for before class ends but i understand the strategy. Honestly i knew half of the meanings on the sheet the other was sought of hard to remember and took a while to come back to me so it does encourage critical thinking. It is not because i am not readingbut sometimes the simple things we tend to forget at times so such is life. we spoke about cyclones( low pressure covering the air) and anticyclones (high pressure diverging air). we were introduced to the sepcial wind systems which included. land and sea breeze, jet streams, deserts (harmattan), mountains ( anabatic and katabatic) and seasonal reveals (monsoon). some of these wind systems were new to me whilst some i already knew about and i could explain.
We looked at land breeze and sea breeze which brought back a memory for me as i had to teach this to my form 1 class last practicum. this was interesting for me becuase i did not use media to explain this to my students but i drew two diagrams and challenged my students by showing them one diagram and explaining it and allowing them to think and comprehened the other diagram so they can explain what is happening. My group and i had to present on jet streams. it was ok for me as i was learning something new. my door is always open for learning new things each and everyday.
Apart from the wind systems we had to look at the tri-cellular modelof atmospheric circulation. we learnt to draw a diagram and how to go about labeling the diagram using rules such as air moves from high to low pressure, hot air rises and cool air sinks.
Class was ok but i still do not feel comfortable in this class anymore but i am doing what i have to do to learn and pass at the end of it all

Andrea, thanks for sharing your post. Again, I want to remind you that this blog is not about recounting what went on in class. It is about how those activities have helped you to become more aware of yourself as a learner and a person as a whole. Again, I will remind you to use the rubric as a guide for the quality of your posts. As it is, you are not addressing the self-analysis that is needed. You are certainly capable of doing that. I would like to see that level of thinking reflected in the blog.
