First Class!!

GEOG-4011

new class! new year! final year! new lecturer!
Class was a bit different as it was constructed in a way where the class was always busy with something to do.
was very interactive and fun
i did things that i have never done in any first class before
i'm eager learn see what this course has to offer

    Good to know that you are eager Andrea and I hope that enthusiasm continues to the end of the course. It was interesting to read that you have never done some of these activities before. I want to know, were you engaged in the class? What will you do to engage your students?

    yes miss i am, yes the activites that you had us do in class such as introducing ourselves, drawing the picture that defines us, the life timeline, limiting us with a time to get things done, going outside and exporing etc. it was indeed a full class. we did not even get to sit for an hour comfortable we were always moving.
    to engage my students i would use the same techniques that you had used in class as well as encourage group work and have activites for my students to do individually to help manage the class and keep the students active because as soon as they are not occupied in the classroom they tend to get mischievous and noisy.

    Hi Andrea! I do agree that the class was very interactive and different from what we are used to during a typical 3 hour lecture. Group work is one of the many strategies that we are encouraged to use when delivering a lesson in the classroom. I did not see you mention anything about creating the mnemonic and you know that was really exciting for us. Can you share you mnemonic again? Do you think you will encourage you students to create their own mnemonic? If so why?

      Thanks Shoba, yes i forget to mention that part of the lesson. The mnemonic that i came up with was The Sun Masters The Earth. Yes i would encourage my students to come up with their own mnemonic because it would help them to remember the terms and what order they should go in or just a way to remember their geographic terms :) :) :)

FINAL PRAC!

MY LAST WEEK OF PRACTICUM WAS OK I GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO FINISH MY UNIT BECAUSE I TAUGHT TIME WAS RUNNING OUT ON ME. week 2 ... work has gotten more intense

Today, I appreacited the fact that my group members were all present in class so we could have agreed on working with each other for the rest of the semester. Although we had a small issue it was dealt with and we are all now comfortable and ready to work together.  Today, we started atmospheric energy and class was indeed an informative class as we started to really think about how we are explaining diagrams and the questions that can be formed based on how you explain it. We (my Group members and I) understood the concept of the picture based on previous knowledge and also from what we had learnt in class. My personal view on class today was that Miss assumed that we were all in a bad mood but honestly that's how we are and it is a long trip from south on mornings so this what she saw this morning was something normal. the third week ... snow! wow! ooohhhh so interested

Today we learnt about whether or not snow can fall on the equator. My group, the A Team said yes whilst the other groups said no. of course we knew that with climate change the rotation of the sun anything can happen. Also we remembered that precipation does not only occur during the day but it occurs at night as well. Also the tilt of the earth matters here as well. This was my "ah ha" moment as I i really forget about this important point as I just focused on the rotation, climate changing and the precipation not occuring during the day only. In addition to this, we were given a sheet of paper with pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and we were asked how do we take the the pieces in account for how we work together as a group. So what my group came up with was that some of the pieces will not fit but we would have to work around with the other pieces until it has fit, meaning that we will encounter challenges and we will have to work around it and get the job done at the end of the...
